Biblical Texts

[Christ Jesus], though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God something to be grasped. (Phil 2:6) [AD 54]

He is the image of the invisible God . . . In him were created all things in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things were created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (Col 1:15-17) [AD 60]

[God] spoke to us through a son, whom he made heir of all things and through whom he created the universe, who is the refulgence of his glory, the very imprint of his being, and who sustains all things by his mighty word. (Heb 1:2-3) [AD 85]

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. . . . And the Word became flesh, and made his dwelling among us. (Jn 1:1, 14) [AD 90]
